PHILOSOPHY is a unique short film in world cinema.
Not only is it prophetic, but it continues to be incredibly ahead of its time.
Filmed in 1992, it predicts the Greek bankruptcy of 2010 and the global lockdown of 2019.
While its exhortation – through the "president's" proclamation – to turn to "philosophy",
became a reality in 2015, in the speech of the President of Argentina at the UN General Assembly.
With corrosive humor and a sense of absurdity, the film raises the surface to speak about the future.
After Sarayevo, the wars in Balkans are expanding, touching Athens. The economy of the country collapses. A strange word appears on the walls of the city. Philosophy! But the adjuster is still working in the ruins. When the President announces state's bail out and suggests "Philosophy" as the only activity, everything changes.
director's comment
My first short film was a social comment, miimal and sarcastic. The three characters are an adjuster, a new poor, a freak. Guest star is the President, appearing through the tv. Shot in just one day and a half in two locations in Athens downtown, describes a dystopian city that collapses.
