The first book by Dimitri Athanitis is a collection of 25 short stories talking about meetings with some extraordinary personalities. It is also a trip from Berlin to Athens, from Paris to Thessaloniki, from Hydra to Syros and from the promising 80s to today. Stars, directors, writers, underground figures and even unknown persons of a personal circle, they are all parts of a cinematic voyage, creating a personal mythology of the strange.
Encounters and meetings that happened by chance, by purpose or by "objective chance", according to the surrealists: Ben Gazzarra, Claud Chabrol, Nico, Michael Cacoyannis, Thanasis Vengos, Margarita Karapanou, Lena Kitsopoulou, Ripley...
Secret Encounters has first been presented in Zappeion Book Festival, Athens, September 2017. Followed presentations in Thessaloniki Film Festival and Drama Short Film Festival. The book has made another 20 presentations in many Greek cities.
